As I walked through the abandoned asylum, the creaking floorboards beneath my feet echoed through the desolate halls like a mournful sigh. The air was thick with the scent of decay and rot, heavy with the weight of forgotten memories. Every step revealed a new horror, a fresh atrocity that seemed to sear itself into my mind like a branding iron. I had seen some terrible things in my years as an investigator, but nothing could have prepared me for this. The walls were smeared with grotesque murals, the faces of the damned screaming silently in agony. In the center of each room, a lone figure stood frozen, their eyes black as coal, their skin gray as stone. I followed the trail of carnage to the heart of the asylum, where I found the source of it all: a woman with skin like alabaster and hair like silk. Her eyes gleamed with an otherworldly light, and her voice was like music, sweet and seductive. "Welcome, dear investigator," she said, her lips curling into a sly smile. "I've been waiting for you." I knew then that I was in grave danger, trapped in a nightmare from which I might never awaken. The woman's eyes seemed to bore into my very soul, and I felt myself being drawn closer, helpless against the tide of madness that threatened to consume me whole. But I refused to give in. With a fierce determination burning within me, I reached for my gun and took aim at the woman. She didn't flinch, didn't even blink as the bullet ripped through her chest, but instead laughed with a sound like thunder. "You may have killed my body," she said, "but you'll never kill my spirit." As I watched in horror, her body began to dissolve into nothingness, leaving behind only a faint echo of her presence. And then, everything went black. When I came to, I was lying on the floor, my head throbbing with pain. The woman was nowhere to be seen, but I knew that she was still out there, waiting for me. I stumbled out into the bright sunlight, gasping for air as if I'd been underwater too long. But even the warmth of the sun couldn't chase away the chill that had settled in my bones.
