Daedric Dagger Morrowind
thingiverse
Wake up, we're here! These were the first words in the third sequel from The Elder Scrolls game series. As one of my personal favorites, I wanted to create some game props of my own, and I had a clear requirement - it had to be an original game mesh. That meant no editing was done (except for some alignment pins) to maintain its authenticity. To extract the dagger mesh, I used the free-to-download BSA Extractor to pull it from the Morrowind.bsa file. NIFscope came in handy to convert the .nif into an .obj file, and Meshmixer helped me add some alignment pins for easy assembly. Despite being quite large (420mm), the dagger consists of just four parts. Printing was a breeze, with no issues at all. For a model designed in the early 2000s, it fits surprisingly well in your hands! To print this model, follow these steps: 1. Print the two halves of the handle part using 12% infill and 0.2mm resolution. 2. Print the two parts of the blade vertically, using 0% infill, three walls, a four-millimeter brim, and supports for the smallest blade part. Once you have all the parts, follow these assembly instructions: 1. Sand the halves of the model to improve glue adhesion. 2. Sand the alignment pins for easier assembly. 3. Glue the parts together using commonly available PVC glue (it dries quickly and is rock solid). 4. (Optional) Prime the model and paint it according to your liking or the added original texture. 5. Show off your finished product! "Come, Nerevar. Friend or traitor, come!"
