Da Vinci Code Cryptex baseed on Screen-used Prop
thingiverse
These files will guide you in creating an exact replica of the Cryptex from The Da Vinci Code movie. Every dimension is carefully taken from actual auction photos of the screen-used prop, ensuring a precise recreation of its size and function. I meticulously researched and modeled this project to bring it as close as possible to the original prop used on set. The replica Cryptex can be programmed to open with any code, allowing each cylinder to be easily replaced. Similar to the screen-used prop, only the last two letters are necessary for the combination, making it simpler for users. Inside the Cryptex is room for a standard 1/2" glass test tube. PRINTING INSTRUCTIONS: Use supports for InnerTube and Gear to ensure proper printing. The rest of the pieces should print fine without any additional support structures. I printed all parts in metallic PLA except the LetterRing, which were printed white. To begin assembly, follow these steps: 1) Place one LetterRing over each Gear, aligning the slot on the back with the desired letter. Slide each assembly onto the OuterTube in order. 2) Attach the LockRing to the end of the OuterTube by inserting two small screws (2-56 x 1/4 flathead) into the countersunk holes. Ensure the screws are flat and small enough not to stick out above the countersink, allowing for a smooth fit with the RuneRing. 3) Slip the Rune Ring over the end of the OuterTube, aligning the tab on the inside. 4) Using superglue, attach the OuterRuneEnd to the flat end of the Outer Tube, ensuring the arrow points towards the other side of the Cryptex. Align the two pegs before gluing. 5) Stack all the End Pieces (1-5) together, lining them up with the keyed peg, and use a bit of super glue between each piece for both ends. 6) Glue one of your assembled End Pieces to each end of your finished Cryptex.
