Da Vinci MK8 Extruder Upgrade Enables Smooth Printing of PLA and ABS. This modification ensures seamless printing of both PLA and ABS materials using the original extruder motor, allowing you to maintain the same firmware as before. Modification Requirements: 1. Print the necessary 3 parts. 2. Remove the original extruder and motor completely. 3. Insert the rubber filament into the provided hole in the ex holder securely. 4. Trim down the smaller of the two filament tubes so it fits perfectly. 5. Reverse the order of the extrude motor wires, as the extruder is now positioned on the opposite side. If initially connected 1-2-3-4, they should be rearranged to 4-3-2-1. This can be achieved using a pin without soldering, by carefully removing the wires from the connector and reinserting them in the correct sequence. 6. You may also opt to swap the original heating element and temperature component with new ones, if desired. However, it's recommended to keep them as is for consistency. The extruder head will need to be rotated so that it fits properly into its original carriage position. 7. Once everything is assembled, secure all parts in place using screws and attach the X-axis clip to realign the head, ensuring proper self-cleaning functionality. This upgrade is surprisingly easy to implement and offers significant benefits for printing PLA without any issues. For those interested, I've also developed a touchscreen cartridge resetter mod for this printer, which can be found on my other post.
