Summary Da Vinci MK8 Extruder Upgrade. This modification allows you to print PLA and ABS with ease. It utilizes the original extruder motor, enabling use of the original firmware. Modification Details: Print the required 3 parts. Remove the original extruder and motor. Insert the rubber filament into the provided hole in the ex holder. Trim down the smaller filament tube to ensure a snug fit. Reverse the extrude motor wires. The new configuration is critical due to the extruder's relocation. If the original wiring sequence was 1-2-3-4, it should be rearranged to 4-3-2-1. Use a pin to disconnect and reconnect the wires without soldering. Retain the original heating element and temperature sensor; swapping them is an option. Rotate the extruder head for proper alignment within the carriage. Secure all components and attach the X-axis clip to realign the print head, ensuring smooth self-cleaning. This upgrade is straightforward and relatively simple. It's a huge advantage to be able to print PLA without complications. For additional modifications, consider my touchscreen cartridge resetter mod for this printer.
