Da Vinci 2.0: Quick! E3d V6 conversion
thingiverse
These two small parts (cap and mount) can be used to transform your Da Vinci 2.0 Duo into a single extruder E3D V6 without requiring a completely new carriage. The cap does not need supports, but I printed the mount with supports to minimize cleanup. I also removed the second stepper motor on the carriage, which has significantly reduced weight and allowed me to print at 80mm/s without resonance in the x or y direction. In Repetier EEPROM settings, I adjusted the lowered max z-axis by the difference in height between the original nozzle and the new one. There is an optical end-stop sensor for the z-axis used to home it. A metal piece on the bed triggers the end stop; I glued a piece of paper onto this tab to effectively extend its length by the distance you changed the max z-axis travel. Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures to share right now, as I'm away from home for the next two weeks. You'll need to explore your printer settings and examine the end stop to understand what I mean. A small support in the bottom of the carriage must be cut off to allow room for the cold end fan. The fan is 12v, so I chose to run a line from the PSU, which is turned on with the printer. Required materials: * About 10m of T-glase or ABS * 2x M6 x16mm (maybe 20mm?) * 2x M6 nuts or nutserts Version 2 of the mount has not been tested but should provide additional stability to the hot end, although I haven't seen a need for it. If you test it, please let me know. I plan to convert to Bowden to further decrease weight and will update once I find the time.
