Da Vinci 1.0 Pro Cable Chain Mounts
prusaprinters

Basically this is no remix, I just designed a mount which is necessary to get a chain like this mounted on a XYZ Da Vinci 1.0 Pro printer. The parts were suppose to be snap on, but for better printing I decided to go with two parts which need to be bolted together with 3 screws once mounted. The cables do not need to be taken off for mounting.

I am also working on a mount for the extruder. Coming soon... ;-)

Number of cable-chain segments needed (nobar_one.stl from original):

I used 24, but I think I could remove a few more. Need to do some further tests. In the picture you can see that I turned the chain by 180 degrees ind the middle of the chain. If you don't do this the extruder will no be able to go to all positions without the chain putting stress on it.

Number of springs needed (spring_one.stl from original):

The number of chain segments plus one one the mount.

The holder for the printer is finished, I will keep you uptodate for all further improvments I figured out.

Thanks to the original designer of the chain itself!

Edit 9. November 2016:

Make sure that you attach the chain high enough on the extruder. Otherwise in can block the extruder from getting to its home position which will result in the zero switch not beeing triggered and the motor skipping on the belt. I added some pictures how I attached it. This is a temporary solution, the part for the extruder will be ready soon. I also removed two chain segments.

Print Settings

Printer:

Da Vinci 1.0 Pro

Rafts:

No

Supports:

Yes

Resolution:

0.2mm layer at 30mm/s or 40mm/s

Infill:

30%

Notes:

I used ASA, printed on glass. This is only a recommendation, I am sure other settings work fine as well. I used manual supports in Simplify3D on the front part, all parts were printed flat (laying on the bed).

Post-Printing =============

Cleanup

Make sure to clean the cable-chain-segments after printing with sand-paper to make sure they run very very smooth without any friction!

Chain Elements

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:611593

Category: 3D Printer Accessories
