Da Vinci 1.0 Pro Cable Chain Mounts
thingiverse
I simply designed a mount that is necessary for mounting this chain on an XYZ Da Vinci 1.0 Pro printer. The parts were supposed to be snap-on, but I decided to use two separate parts bolted together with three screws for better printing results. Mounting the cable does not require removing any cables. I am also working on a mount for the extruder, which will be available soon. Number of cable-chain segments needed (nobar_one.stl from original): I used 24, but I think I could remove a few more by doing some further tests. In the picture, you can see that I turned the chain by 180 degrees in the middle of the chain. If you don't do this, the extruder will not be able to move to all positions without putting stress on it. Number of springs needed (spring_one.stl from original): The number of chain segments plus one for the mount. I have finished the holder for the printer and I will keep you updated about any further improvements that I figure out. Thanks to the original designer of the chain itself! Edit 9. November 2016: Make sure to attach the chain high enough on the extruder, or it can block the extruder from reaching its home position. This could cause the zero switch not to be triggered and the motor to skip on the belt. I have added some pictures showing how I attached it, but this is a temporary solution until my part for the extruder is ready. I also removed two chain segments. Print Settings Printer: Da Vinci 1.0 Pro Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.2mm layer at 30mm/s or 40mm/s Infill: 30% Notes: I used ASA, printed on glass. This is only a recommendation; other settings may work fine as well. I used manual supports in Simplify3D on the front part, and all parts were printed flat (lying on the bed). Post-Printing Cleanup: Make sure to clean the cable-chain-segments with sandpaper after printing to ensure they run very smoothly without any friction.
