Da Vinci 1.0 E3D V6 Easy Mount.
thingiverse
This design is no longer needed. If you're thinking of upgrading to an E3D V6, it's a good idea to also get a Titan extruder since it will fit better and lose less Z height. Replacing the extruder with a pancake motor allows you to reduce weight without dealing with Bowden tubing. Simple, easy-to-install E3D V6 mount for Da Vinci 1.0 printers PROS: * No drilling required * No cutting necessary * No permanent modifications needed on the printer itself CONS: * You will lose about 4cm in height * The mount can be a bit tight and needs some encouragement to fit Instructions: Print the mount Remove the extruder Take out four bolts on each side holding the metal block Heat one part of the mount, press the heatsink into the mount (I used a cooking blowtorch) Press the other side together with heat if needed Add two M5 bolts and nuts, apply heat as required to attach them Bolt in place where the metal block used to be Use a soldering iron to melt small holes in the bottom of the mount (look at the original metal block for reference) If it doesn't fit, you might need to use the soldering iron to take off some material from the top of the extruder to help clear the gears If this is actually helpful to people, I may consider shortening the top and adding the bottom holes to make installation easier. Otherwise, I'm done with this project. Side note: I used the Da Vinci heater because it's 35W compared to the E3D heater which is 30W, and to avoid calibration issues I reused the Da Vinci thermistor. You need to put it in the larger hole (meant for a screw) and find a smaller screw that goes where the thermistor should be to hold it in place.
