D5S Fan Housing with air deflector MK2
thingiverse
Here is a new version of my Wanhao D5S fan housing. NOTE: There are now two versions available, each with different dimensions from center of the nozzle to the mounting screws - 29mm and 32mm. It's crucial to measure first and pick the one that best fits your needs (special thanks go out to ElBertie for supplying info on the 32mm version). This compact MK2 fan housing will not foul the side frame at the rear left corner, unlike its MK1 counterpart. Instead, it centralizes air flow directly at the nozzle, eliminating the offset commonly seen in standard Wanhao housings. This redesign prevents temperature drops when the fan activates, meaning no insulation is required for the hot end. Instructions I printed this new design on my trusty Wanhao D5S Mini with specific settings: - 100% infill for added durability - Two outer shells printed at 0.4mm thickness for enhanced structure - Printing without supports to simplify the process - Customized Marlin firmware to optimize performance - Simplify3d custom settings to refine the print quality - Layer height set at a medium 0.2mm to achieve a balance between speed and accuracy The printing time clocked in at an impressive 114 minutes, with satisfactory results. With optimal infill reduced to 50%, the MK1 version should yield similar outcomes.
