D20 Ring - WIP (Read changelog)
thingiverse
This project is still in its early stages, with printed numbers that aren't easy to read. If I can resolve these current issues, I'll definitely create versions with D6, 8, 10, and 12 rings. The ring itself is fairly chunky but spins well and fits nicely. It's also very easy to build and glue together - just a little bit of glue on the outside of the innermost ring will do. The ring size is approximately 19.48mm in diameter or an US 9 and 5/8ths ring size. To adjust the size to fit your hand better, you can scale up the X and Y values by following these steps: Divide your ring size by the ring's size (for example: 15.20mm / 19.48mm = 0.78). Then multiply that value by 100 (for example: 100 * 0.78 = 78). This value is the scaling factor for your X and Y (for example: 78% of the original size for a ring 15.20mm in diameter). After conducting some math, I've found that the ring has a slight bias based on 200 spins - there are fewer 4,5,6 results than expected and more 12,13,14 results than expected (around 10-15%). This is part of why I'm marking this as a work in progress. I'd be thrilled to have some help figuring out ways to reduce bias and make the spinner fairer.
