This part presents some printing challenges due to its long overhanging sections. To print this component, several standard options are available: Use standard supports: This method can be used manually or automatically generated, but the results often leave much to be desired. The printed part may end up with unsightly marks and blemishes, making it unappealing as a decorative item. In dual-extrusion machines, use PLA and PVA: While this combination works well, PVA is an expensive material that can behave erratically. As a result, the printed part may develop tiny holes or imperfections due to stringing and oozing issues with PVA. For optimal results, I recommend using a third method: Use PLA as the main material with ABS serving as the support material. This unique combination of materials allows for precise control over the adhesion properties between them. By adjusting the ABS temperature, you can achieve anywhere from minimal to nearly permanent bonding. This enables the creation of complex supports that can be easily removed without leaving behind any residue. I have successfully printed this design using black PLA with white ABS as the support material, as showcased in the time-lapse video.
