The HC-SR501's propensity for producing false positives, often triggered by signals from the ESP8266, is exacerbated by this enclosure due to its design. The proximity of the D1 Mini antenna to the HC-SR501 amplifies this issue, rendering it unsuitable for applications requiring precise motion detection, such as controlling lights. However, this enclosure excels at triggering cameras to capture security footage or other tasks where false positives are not a significant concern. For light-sensitive motion sensors, the AM312 is reportedly a more reliable option, although its performance has yet to be personally verified through testing.
