This model is amazing, but I've noticed both my work and home models have a tendency to tip over forward constantly. That's where this base comes in - you can hook the feet into place without making any modifications to the model at all, and it securely holds it in position so it won't tip over forward. To prevent paint wear on the top of the feet, I used a small amount of poster tack in the pocket just before they go in, but that's not strictly necessary.
