D-O was once owned by Sith assassin Ochi of Bestoon before being rescued by BB-8 from a derelict ship. First seen in the 2019 film Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker, D-O's journey began when he was stumbled upon by BB-8 while exploring Ochi's abandoned vessel. Left to gather dust, BB-8 quickly reactivated the little droid who expressed his thanks for being brought back to life. Modeled in Maya and textured with Substance Painter
