D-Day : Sainte-Mere-Eglise
thingiverse
Sainte-Mère-Église is a key commune situated within the Manche department of Normandy in northwestern France. The town's main claim to fame stems from its pivotal role during World War II's Normandy landings, as it stood strategically at the center of route N13, which the Germans would have likely utilized for any significant counterattack against troops landing on Utah and Omaha Beaches. At dawn on June 6, 1944, a combined force of U.S. 82nd Airborne and U.S. 101st Airborne Divisions seized control of the town as part of Mission Boston, solidifying its position as one of the first towns to be liberated during the invasion.
