D&D Scenery: Hydra Throne for Tomb of Annihilation
thingiverse
Ras Nsi's Throne Room (area 11) in the Fane of the Night Serpent of Tomb of Annihilation features an iron throne carved in the shape of a hydra. The map displays it as a single square item. When brainstorming ideas for this, I took some bold liberties. I wanted to create a sense of grandeur. This updated version now spans 8 squares roughly, with two being the hydra's body emerging from the ground, and one being the elevated dais instead of a traditional throne. Since Ras Nsi is a Malison, a standard chair approach didn't seem fitting, allowing you to place the actual miniature on the dais. I decided to incorporate the serpent sigil I use for the teleporter, making it a symbol that ties Ras Nsi's influence to the temple and throne. The hydra statue is crafted from modified parts of Miguel Zavala's (mz4250) Hydra design: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1241912 - Be sure to check out his collection on Shapeways and Patreon, it's huge! After printing my version, I encountered an issue with the right head, which has been resolved now. Unfortunately, there were also support failures on two of the lower heads, resulting in limited pictures of the full statue. I will need to reprint it. Consequently, some changes have been made to the photos compared to the original model. I also added two magnet slots for 5mm ball magnets - although they may not align perfectly with OpenForge/OpenLock magnets in tiles when arranging the grid, they can be helpful with stability. They're not necessary, however, once the dais is in place, the statue is stable on its own.
