D&D Dice Carrier & Tray

D&D Dice Carrier & Tray

I came across a similar project online, crafted from wood, and have been pondering the idea for several weeks, which is why I couldn't locate the original creator to give them credit. It's designed to hold a standard set of dice (it should easily accommodate 7 dice or possibly 8, depending on size). The storage compartment measures 17.5 cm x 11.7 cm x 26 cm, large enough to store pens, pencils, a small notebook, a folded character sheet, or even a 1-inch mini. It unfolds into a dice tray - I recommend lining it with felt or leather if you plan on rolling heavy metal dice - and the liner might make a mini fit snugly inside. The entire project is designed to be held together by magnets that are embedded during the printing process. I'm using 5mm diameter, 1mm thick neodymium magnets, eight around the main part's perimeter, and four more for the side lid, which should be sufficient, although I won't know until it's printed. To embed the magnets, you'll need to use your slicer's pause-at-z feature. Make sure they're oriented correctly - I recommend placing all the magnets on one side with the north facing outward, printing the other side, and then embedding them with the south facing outward. The side lid will require two norths and two souths, paired along the long side, if you follow these instructions. The side walls are printed in increments of 0.4 for easy printing, while the tops and bottoms are a minimum of 0.6 - so layer heights compatible with that work best (0.12 and 0.2 will print wonderfully).
