This conversion changes the system from Bowden to Direct Drive. To make this change, you will need to drill two holes in the original front X carriage. Next, bolt the adapter to the front side of the carriage. After that, drill the two holes, then install the mount on the backside of the X carriage. For added support, the weight of the stepper motor should sit on top of the back carriage. When working with the PTFE tube, cut a piece long enough to extend down into the hot end and lock it in place with the spacer retainer clip. Then, place the guide tube on top of the hot end and cut the PTFE tube flush or just slightly longer for added tension. The assembly is now ready to begin. There are two types of guide tubes available: a one-piece design that can be printed as is, or a three-piece version that requires gluing together.
