Cyvasse

Valar Morghulis! And all games must be reborn, just in time for Season 7. There's no shortage of fantastic versions out there of George R.R. Martin-inspired Cyvasse board games. Jonas Platte's Cyvasse Online and DutchMogul's massive printable project are two standout examples. This is my contribution to the mix. Passages from throughout A Song of Ice and Fire serve as the foundation for this game design, with only minor discrepancies. My goal was to create a game that would be right at home between Tyrion and Young Griff, without being dictated by every quote. The biggest innovation in this version is the choice of which side of a piece to use during setup. Given its inspiration from Jaqen H'ghar's face-changing abilities, I like to imagine this version as "Braavosi Cyvasse," born out of the Faceless Men's training and spreading beyond the House of Black and White into more casual entertainment. A Rules Guide, Board, and Labels for the pieces are all included in the Thing Files. Basic Tacky glue has worked well for me when attaching labels to pieces. The board: I commissioned a custom 18x18in playmat from Inked Gaming, but you can print a working version on two pieces of 11x17in paper as well. Screen: Create your own! I plan to make one out of two cereal boxes, with the smaller box fitting snugly inside the larger one for easy storage and piece retrieval. I'm still learning the ropes when it comes to game design and CAD, so feel free to offer any comments or pointers you may have.
