CyrclePhone Star

CyrclePhone Star

This is my entry into the CyrclePhone competition. I'd like to thank CyrclePhone and MyMiniFactory for the opportunity to participate. Designing this enclosure was a ton of fun and I learned a lot that I otherwise would not have. The enclosure has 3 main pieces: a hard plastic front and back that snap together and an outer shell made out of flexible filament. Shape: The CyrclePhone Star features curves at the bottom and a rounded back to make it easy to hold. Along the sides are holes for all the connectors and buttons. The curves at the top are designed to create a look unlike any other phone. The flat base allows the phone to stand upright. Protection: Inspired by the design of the Otterbox Defender phone case, my enclosurefeatures a sturdy protective inner layer. The outer layer, made of flexible filament, will absorb the impact of any falls and protect the phone. Secure: The CyrclePhone Star will keep all the components on the inside secure. The battery, relocated to the center of the case, is held in place in its 4 corners. Grip: The rounded back features a flat spot in the center designed to hold a PopSocket. With a PopSocket, CyrclePhone Star users will be able to grip their phone. The variety of options available will allow them to show their unique style. Keychain: The CyrclePhone Star features a keychain hole located at the bottom. This position allows for easy use while wearing the phone on a neck lanyard. Camera Covers: Worried about privacy or scratching your phone camera? The CyrclePhone Star's 2 cameras both have a star-shaped indent around them. This indent is the namesake for the design and accomodates a removable piece to cover up the phone's camera when desired. Microphones: My design positions the two microphones in the base. The two small star shaped holes indicate their positions. Snap-together: As opposed to using screws like the original design, the CyrclePhone Star snaps together. Testing showed that once put together, the front and back stayed together. Photos: The photos show the front and back of the enclosure both with and without the camera cover, printed in PETG. Note that the brown spots on the parts are not part of the design and were caused by an issue with my printer. The outer flexible filament layer is not pictured.
