Cylishaker
thingiverse
A versatile shaker with exceptional projection capabilities is now available, crafted from two meticulously designed halves bonded together after adding beads. The unique thickness variation across top, bottom, and sides allows for an impressive range of tones to be produced. I'm thrilled to announce the WideFlat version has been uploaded, and it's a game-changer - my new favorite! Print Settings: Printer Brand: SeeMeCNC Printer: Rostock MAX v2 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.3 Notes: I highly recommend printing at 0.3 layer height, using 1.8mm perimeter, and applying two bottom layers on one half, while adding four on the other. Be sure to disable top-layer settings or it will create an unwanted cap. To achieve a smooth bond, gently break glaze by rubbing sandpaper on a flat surface before assembly. ABS can be bonded with acetone, while PLA responds well to superglue. I've found that a sidewall thickness of 0.6-1.2mm yields the best results. For the WideFlat version, I prefer printing at 0.2 layer height and using two layers on one side, four or five on the other - this produces an excellent low-high combination. The sidewall's thickness significantly affects sound quality; however, be cautious not to reduce it too much, as excessive flexibility may compromise bond strength or cause breakage. I typically use about 1 1/2 teaspoons of #6 glass beads, which can be found at most craft stores. I aim for a bead depth of around two layers to achieve optimal results - your preference may vary. To unlock the full potential of this shaker, experiment with different techniques such as muting and unmuting the ends, shaking horizontally or vertically, tapping the heads against your palm or leg. The possibilities are endless, and you'll be amazed at the diverse range of sounds that can be produced.
