Dr Iskandar jotted down in a clay diary: "Bowls - nothing electrifying! A straightforward form, modest, extremely earthy, practical, traditional, and ritualistic in concept yet it dominates every aspect of our culture, faith, social life, and even...our most modern daily routines." Encounters with various clay communities worldwide have enriched Dr Iskandar's own perceptions. His meetings with Finnish and Nordic design philosophies, for example, left a lasting impact. The Nordic penchant for clean lines, minimal ornamentation, graphic elements, and the use of local materials resonated deeply with Dr Iskandar. This sturdy bowl was crafted as a tribute to such design principles. Direct and unassuming, this bowl features elemental yet decisive contours. Its distinctive light-wood handles were custom-designed to mirror the rim of its opening and are generously sized and robust for lifting this substantial vessel.
