Cylinder Lock (fully functional, parametric)
prusaprinters

It's a fully functional cylinder lock that offers 5⁴ (=625) different combinations.

You will need 4 springs from a ball pen (diameter = 4 mm, Length > 19 mm, tolerance is quite high and parametric) or let gravity do the its job for a first test.

To create a custom lock, open the .f3d-file in Fusion 360, go to "change Parameters" and set PIN1STUFE to PIN4STUFE an a value between 1 and 5. It will adjust the pins and the key accordingly.

Also see https://youtu.be/lX2YUn6JloE

Print instructions

Category: Mechanical Toys Summary

It's a fully functional cylinder lock that offers 5⁴ (=625) different combinations.

You will need 4 springs from a ball pen (diameter = 4 mm, Length > 19 mm, tolerance is quite high and parametric).

To create a custom lock, open the .f3d-file in Fusion 360, go to "change Parameters" and set PIN1STUFE to PIN4STUFE an a value between 1 and 5. Please check the 3mf-plate for that.

Apart from that printing should be easy:

the design is rasterized for an 0.2mm first layer and 0.15 mm above

the seam position for the case and the cylinder should neither cross the pin slots nor the exact opposite side

make sure the bridging above the slots is perpendicular to the slots

Post-Printing

Make sure the pins move freely in the slots

Assemble as shown in the picture

Make sure that the order of the pins corresponds your key

Change the order of the pins or set up only one pin at a slot not mathcing your key to check if it's really only that one mathcing key that will unlock
