Cyclone dust separator / vortex filter
thingiverse
I designed this cyclone filter from scratch, but the initial concept came from a separator I saw on Thingiverse created by Jaykoehler. I needed a version that could withstand heavy use for construction site work, so I optimized it for a 5-layer perimeter and secured it with 6mm nuts and bolts. It prints perfectly without supports. The filter works great. I designed it to its maximum printable size, which is the limit of my printer. Inside, I included a spiral starting point that directs dust in the right direction immediately. I also incorporated screw-in connectors since we use this filter with many different vacuum cleaners featuring various diameter hoses. We simply need to print a screw connector with the right diameter and don't have to reprint the entire filter. I'll upload the source file for this connector online, allowing you to adapt it to your needs. Alternatively, you can download a conical connector designed by Doobedoobedo that fits various size hoses from Thingiverse (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2083622). Print Settings: Printer: Felix 3.1 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.35 Infill: 10% Notes: Optimized for 5-layer perimeters, nozzle 0.35mm
