Cyclone dust collector - low profile
cults3d
I have remixed this Cyclone Thingiverse 1447214 to use on my CNC machine. I needed connections for standard 2.25 inch vacuum hoses and a small capture container with a wide mouth. I made the cyclone from PLA with six layers and thirty percent infill. I think it is overbuilt, and five layers with twenty percent should be enough. The remaining parts were twenty percent and five layers. The PLA makes nice threads, but they need working together for a smooth fit. The Mason jar threads fit perfectly on the first try. The Mason jar was a remix from Canning Jar Lids - Thingiverse 19105. I chose canning jars because they are readily available in grocery stores in durable clear plastic. Mine come from peanut butter jars. I have made an adapter for small and large jars, so you can choose the size jar that suits your needs. This cyclone does not attach at the base (which is an advantage) and therefore requires a hanger. The hanger is printed from PETG with five layers and twenty percent infill. The vacuum connector part took seventy hours to print and is the only part needing supports. The cyclone part took thirty hours, the hanger twenty hours, and the adapter six hours. It was a long print, but it was worth it before me.
