This custom-designed cycloidal drive is engineered specifically for 35mm "tin can"-style stepper motors. Two stages are incorporated, providing a substantial 49:1 drive reduction. The compact flat package and built-in slew bearing (utilizing 6mm diameter Airsoft BB's) on the output plate make it ideal for robotic applications. This gear reducer shares many similarities with my compound planetary robot actuator (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3293562). However, this cycloidal version is significantly simpler and easier to print. Unfortunately, the high-speed eccentric motion of the cam introduces some vibration, resulting in slightly reduced efficiency compared to the planetary version.
