Cyberpunk 2077 is an upcoming role-playing video game being developed and published by CD Projekt. The game is set to release for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on April 16, 2020. Based on the 1988 tabletop game Cyberpunk 2020, it takes place fifty-seven years later in a dystopian version of Night City, California. This open-world environment features six distinct regions that players can explore. As a first-person perspective character, players will take on the role of V, a customisable mercenary who can gain prominence by upgrading their stats using experience points. V has access to a wide range of ranged weapons and options for engaging in melee combat. Developed by CD Projekt Red, an internal studio within CD Projekt, Cyberpunk 2077 is being built using the REDengine 4 game engine. The development team has set up a new division in Wroclaw and partnered with Digital Scapes to assist with production. A total of 450 staff members are involved in the project, surpassing the number that worked on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Mike Pondsmith, the creator of Cyberpunk 2020, consulted on the game's development, while Keanu Reeves has a starring role.
