I had to drill holes at the end of half-inch aluminum pipes while crafting an antenna. The end of each pipe needed to grip onto thinner pipes using hose clamps, so I fabricated matching templates to secure the pipes firmly in a vise and enable precise cutting of the slots with a hacksaw.
