<p>The Cute Skull Lamp by rayjizza is an amazing piece of work and when I saw it I knew a friend of mine would absolutely love to have one so I decided to make one for them, but I wanted to give my friend the option of choosing various colors and patterns.</p> <hr/> <p>I've expanded the cutout of the base to allow me to fit an Adafruit Feather. I used an Adafruit Feather M4 (total overkill for this project, but it's what I had available). Any Feather or Feather-Compatible board should work as long as it is supported by FastLED (<a href="https://github.com/FastLED/FastLED">https://github.com/FastLED/FastLED</a>).</p> <p>I've added a lid to hide the electronics, you can attach a 1200 to 2000 mAh rechargeable lithium battery and a power switch to inside of the lid (optional). Any switch similar to this should fit: <a href="https://www.adafruit.com/product/805">https://www.adafruit.com/product/805</a></p> <p>The LED holder has been adjusted so that it has a slot for the pins instead of holes because I used 5mm "NeoPixels" (WS2812 LEDs) which have 4 pins instead of two. The fit isn't perfect so I used a bit of hot glue to hold the LEDs in place before I soldered them.</p> <p>For control I modified both of the eyes of the base to be usable as stealth buttons though I ended up only using one of them myself. Supports will be needed for the lid's notch.</p> <p>If you have trouble getting the lid to fit you'll probably need to trim a bit off of the notch that holds it in on a the front. If you get it just right you might not even need the screws to hold the lid in place. The screw holes of the lid were designed so that supports would not be needed there, just use a screw driver or drill to finish the hole. The lid can be secured using some M3x10 mm screws.</p> <p>Finally I added some rubber feet to the base.</p> <p>I used Hatchbox Orange PLA, 3dFuel Midnight Black PLA and Atomic Filament Clear PLA.</p>
