This is MakerBot's "Cute Octopus Says Hello" model (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:27053), now transformed with custom slicing to make it print as a sleek shell without a base. By hollowing out the Cute Octopus, you can install an LED inside to create a glowing nightlight or scale down the design to make a clever eraser-protector for your pencil! The third overturned octopus in the last picture showcases this specific hollow, floor-less slicing technique. The included files are .makerbot files, as that is currently the only method available to export the sliced hollow model from the MakerBot Desktop/MakerWare software. If you do not possess a MakerBot machine with an SD card, then you will need to slice it yourself from the original Cute Octopus model. To master this process, follow the links below for tutorials and instructions: MakerHome, Day 305 (http://makerhome.blogspot.com/2014/06/day-305-friday-fail-octopus-pro-edition.htm), and continue learning with the next installment on MakerHome, Day 306.
