Human: Cut and Modified Whale Bone XCB-001-1437 XCB-001, or IZM-001, is one of three sites thoroughly examined by A.P. McCartney in 1971, solidifying its status as the type-site for the Cape Glazenap Phase. The site boasts a massive village comprising nucleus-satellite corporate households dating back approximately 1000-1200 CE. Western Alaska Peninsula artifacts are presented as a direct result of research conducted under grants NSF 9630072, NSF 9814086, NSF 9996372, NSF 9996415, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner spearheaded the project as Principal Investigator. These artifacts were meticulously scanned using either a Faro Edge Arm or a Minolta Vivid 9i. Processing was carried out in Geomagic or Polyworks, with 2-8 photos used to create textured surfaces in Geomagic Wrap. Original digitizing work took place at the IVL at Id. St. Univ., while subsequent processing and publication were completed at Global Digital Heritage. McCartney's pioneering research is documented in his 1974 paper "Prehistoric Cultural Integration along the Alaska Peninsula," published in APUA 16(1):59-84. Maschner's groundbreaking study, available online, sheds further light on Arctic anthropology, as presented in Arctic Anthro., January 1, 2004 vol. 41 no. 2, 98-111.
