UPDATE: I've added the OpenSCAD file, which requires the BOSL library, allowing you to customize the pole size with a single parameter. This design should work for sizes ranging from 20mm to 40mm without any issues. If you try this on a pole that's not 25mm in diameter, please let me know, especially if you need to change anything other than the MASTER_POLE_DIA variable. I've also made changes to the inner insert so it doesn't require supports. However, I haven't printed these parts yet, and I'd appreciate feedback if you encounter any problems with them. Some parts are needed to create your own shelving unit. This requires a pole with 0.5mm notches and 25mm in diameter. The design was specifically created to work with the Kmart chrome shelving unit pole. The inner part should be printed at 0.15mm layer thickness, using supports (and I had to use a brim as it wasn't sticking to the bed). Two parts are required per pole. The inner and outer parts are tapered, locking together to clamp onto the pole. Some force may be necessary to get them fully locked down, and they should only fit together one way. Make sure the inner part is seated into the notch when you lock the taper down. You'll need to provide your own shelf material. I haven't load-tested this design to failure but it appears to hold a reasonable load. Printed in PETG, which has a bit of flex to it. Each shelf (4 brackets, 8 inner parts) takes about 18.5 hours to print at 0.15mm layer thickness. Shelf supports were printed with 4 perimeters and 20% infill. Inner parts are printed with 2 perimeters (make sure the part has some infill as this allows the printer to maintain correct dimensions). If you're creating a larger shelf unit, you might want to consider bracing the poles, but in my case, it wasn't necessary.
