Customized parts for alu frame (Prusa i3 MK2/MK2.5)
thingiverse
Hello, I upgraded my Prusa i3 MK2.5 (originally purchased as an MK2) with aluminum profiles (30x30) and plates like the MK3 has. However, a problem arose when I needed slightly different plastic parts (the ones I uploaded) after mounting the aluminum profiles and front- and backplate. Apart from filing off some material and drilling holes in the frame, the y-axis-motor holder required a conversion to mount the end stop. Consequently, the y-axis-belt holder had to change because the end stop was 18mm further back. To upgrade your MK2/MK2.5 to the aluminum profile version, follow these steps: 1.) Print the two plastic parts. 2.) Acquire the aluminum profiles / front- and backplate. 3.) Drill holes in the frame. 4.) File off material where the heatbed-carrier slightly touches the frame. 5.) Mount the aluminum profiles / front- and backplate. 6.) Attach the y-axis end stop. 7.) Reattach other parts like the heat bed again. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Thanks to gregsaun for his bear upgrade instructions.
