Customizeable Pipe Bender (for Heatpipes)
thingiverse
Parametric, fully 3D printable Pipe Bender I designed last weekend to beat boredom and save money. Bending radius should be more than three times the diameter of the heatpipe and no more than ninety degrees. Three holes for up to six millimeters, up to eight millimeters, and up to ten millimeters heatpipe diameter. Tolerance of point two millimeters worked fine for a Replicator Fifth (no sanding nor drilling required). Adjust it to your needs in the OpenScad file or with the Customizer. I'll upload the .stl files for a radius of thirty millimeters, you can change it to your specific value in the OpenScad file or with the Customizer. Dimensions are given in millimeters. Update1 (RC2.scad): Rounded the bending lever for smoother results. Update2 (RC3.scad): Set the default back to r=30mm and updated the .stl Update3 (RC4.scad): Turned the lever ninety degrees again for easier printing of the axle mounting hole Update4 (RC5.scad): Bending lever is rounded only on the backside now as it should be Update5 (RC6.scad): Fixed an error for high radius bending lever and tolerance variable is a constricted slider now Update7 (RC7.scad): Colored the preview and reduced the amount of material for r>39 Update8 (RC8.scad): Option to change the handle position for bends >90 degrees up to 180 Update9 (RC9.scad): Added option for custom pipe diameters up to sixteen millimeters Print Settings Printer Brand: MakerBot Printer: MakerBot Replicator (5th Generation) Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: No Resolution: 0.2 Infill: Fifteen Notes: I recommend at least three perimeter shells, infill can be low. Post-Printing Assembly: Assemble it like seen in the preview / the .gif. http://imgur.com/OpFBpdv How to use: http://imgur.com/gFvnz9d Insert the heatpipe in the respective hole until it is where the bend should be and start wiggling your way around. If you have multiple bends you may have to disassemble the bender to get the pipe out (which is easily done as seen in the .gif) How I Designed This Sunday Evening, no interesting video games to play so poor student me decided to save money and build my own bender via OpenScad.
