Customizeable Flashforge Creator Pro Easy Spool Holder

NOTE (Oct 2016): for an alternative design using bearings to minimize friction see http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1728291 . This simpler design works just fine though. This spool holder fits Flashforge Creator Pro 3D printers with two horizontal slots at the back and is customizable. A new U shape hanger makes inserting and removing the spool holder much easier. My printer is about one spool width from a wall, making standard Z shape hangers impossible to use. With this design I lift the spool together with the holder, pull it slightly out and it's released. Insertion is just as simple with smooth slops at the end of the hanger guiding it into place. To customize dimensions (e.g. rod length) use the Customizer button on the right. I printed mine using ABS, 20% infill and support material with Simplify3D for slicing. Print the model in the orientation shown in the blue model here, which is on its side. This ensures printing lines are along the rod and hanger, providing maximum strength. Material support is required but should be easy to remove.
