Customizable Window Exhaust Vent for Dryer Duct
thingiverse
This is a customizable window vent designed to attach to a 3" or 4" dryer duct, perfect for venting 3D-printer exhaust fumes. The length can be extended to your full window width using a sliding mechanism, pegs, or a combination of both. Duct size, vent size, frame size, optional screen grid, and x/y duct positions are all fully customizable. You can attach one of the pre-designed variations or create your own custom design using the attached SCAD file. Simply use the Split option in your Slicer software to break up the STL file into separate objects that fit on your printer. This design does not include a fan mount, as you will need to place the exhaust fan elsewhere in the duct. For a compatible fan-to-duct shroud design, check out my thing here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4403027 When compiling the SCAD file, be sure to watch for the calculated opening area to ensure it is sufficient for the chosen duct size and won't constrict airflow. This window vent was inspired by DotScott1's Sliding Window Dryer or AC Vent Seal Kit with 4" Air Duct Mount, but designed from scratch using OpenSCAD. You can find the original design here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3801954 Note that when referring to a "dryer duct," this typically means a flexible duct hose that can be attached. For high-temperature applications, it's recommended to use a higher-temperature non-flammable filament instead of PLA. The design has been updated on 6/4/20 to fix a fitment issue with the sliding version.
