Customizable vertical half-transpararant Sundial for sun oriented windows

This sundial is meant to be placed outside a sun-facing window. Its shadow falls on a semi-transparent layer that can be read from both inside and outside the house. This sundial will work well in moderate latitudes of the Northern Hemisphere. I expect it to also work in moderate latitudes of the Southern Hemisphere (please provide feedback). Some thoughts have led to this sundial's design: * The dial is roughly oriented towards the sun at noon, give or take 60 degrees. * The "sun revolves" around a plane perpendicular to Earth's rotation axis every 24 hours. * The elevation of the sun at its highest point may vary throughout the year. * The gnomon can be made as thick as desired without distorting time readings. Since the dial depends on your specific location and orientation on Earth, the attached STL files are only examples and useless for your needs. You'll have to generate a custom model with OpenSCAD yourself. This is not difficult! * Download verticalSeeThroughSundial.scad from thingiverse.com (and remember where you downloaded it). * Download the OpenSCAD installer from www.openscad.org. * Run the installer (and note the installation directory, e.g. C:\Program Files\OpenSCAD on Windows 10). * Run openscad.exe from this directory. * Open the file verticalSeeThroughSundial.scad in OpenSCAD. * Adapt the variables 'myLatitude', 'myLongitude', 'myTimeZone', and 'mySundialFacingAngle' for your situation. Instructions are in the source text. * Generate your sundial by rendering it (F6 or Design | Render). This will take a few minutes (watch the progress bar on the right). * Export the sundial as an STL file (F7 or File | Export | Export as STL...). Choose an appropriate directory and filename. * Use this STL file as input for your slicer program.
