Customizable V-Block (Rigid)

Customizable V-Block (Rigid)

thingiverse

This is a modified version of gmelenka's v-block design, which provides more clamping force. Changes: One 'V' has been removed to increase rigidity. The clamp grooves have been moved up 10mm, allowing the bottom half of the v-block to be secured more deeply into the vice. The clamp groove height is now adjustable using the variable 'sideHeight'. Instructions: If you're using a slicer with decent support generation, such as Simplify3D, try printing the v-block upside down (instead of sideways). This should result in the most accurate print, but it only works if you can enable supports and completely remove them later. Print the pieces at least 60% or 80% infill, preferably. If you notice lifting at the corners as the huge chunk of plastic cools, try using a brim or a raft. For more information, visit http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1532658. Print Settings: Printer Brand: RepRap Printer: Prusa i2 Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: Doesn't Matter Resolution: 50% or less of your nozzle height to reduce splitting chances Infill: 60% or greater, ideally 80% Notes: Use rafts and/or supports as needed, using common sense.
