Customizable-text Slip-on Kwikset Key Cover

thingiverse

Key handle cover with customizable text for Kwikset key. Key simply slips into the cover, held firmly in place by friction - no need for glue or snapping-together parts or placing the key on a bed while printing. The customizable text string and filament color provide a helpful way to distinguish one key from another. An OpenSCAD source file is included for those who want to customize the text string and other details. I created this design from scratch, but I'd like to give credit to Anon576, whose inspiration can be found at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2353300. When printing, use a Brim to keep the cover standing on edge. Printing it flat would require a larger bridging span. It may seem obvious, but make sure to push the key in completely or the cover can prevent it from being fully inserted into the lock. (5/8/20: Updated measurements and added removable support to prevent tipping over while printing)
