Customizable stereographic picture projector
thingiverse
A new printable version is available at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1922547 I have updated the script to support basic halftone dithering. This allows each pixel a gray value between 0 and 1, with brighter pixels creating larger holes. Images must be exactly 75x75 pixels for the customizer, but higher resolutions require downloading the scad file and using OpenSCAD on your local machine. You can create image arrays with this fiddle: http://jsfiddle.net/threonin/6dr8qu41/ This method scales rapidly with resolution, consuming memory quickly. Exercise caution when choosing resolution settings. When white_threshold is set below 1, all values above it render as empty pixels. Ensure no dark areas are surrounded by bright areas, or they may appear to float in mid-air. Values below black_threshold display solid black with no hole. white_max and black_min restrict the size of holes, preventing them from becoming too small or large. Cutoff can be set to 100 for a flat bottom surface, eliminating need for separate adjustments. However, these settings will require experimentation to achieve printable results, as I have no printer and don't know what is possible. Previewing results requires a similar setup found in the blendfile I uploaded. Update: Images appeared too dark, so I fixed this issue; older versions are in stereographic_flat_dither.scad.old
