Customizable Stereo Text
myminifactory
I'm inspired by the Markus Raetz Yes No sculpture and the Mojoptix digital sundial, so I created this customizable OpenSCAD script that intersects two text extrusions. These prints are extremely challenging without careful handling; any support will make it nearly impossible to remove from all crevices. Dual extruders with dissolvable supports are a must. Browsing through remixes on Customizer shows that some prints are unprintable, while many others are highly questionable. Good luck is essential! For the best results, use only all capital letters and those without support requirements: AHIKLMNVWXY. Letters like BDJOQRU might work, but be cautious. The rest - CEFGPSTZ - will likely cause problems. Lowercase letters are especially difficult because they have more overhangs, descenders that won't appear, and disconnected floating bits like the dot on an "i". Mixing uppercase and lowercase can lead to issues where an uppercase letter in one direction has parts that don't intersect anything in the other direction. You can customize the text for each viewing direction, adjust the angle between views, and change the base thickness. Unfortunately, Customizer doesn't show an option to change the font parameter; I'm not sure why. Regardless, I don't know what fonts are supported by Customizer. If you want to change the font, download the script and process it with OpenSCAD. Be aware that the version in Customizer seems to be using a different font than specified; the middle point of the "M" doesn't touch the baseline, making it a hard-to-print letter compared to the version shown in my photo.
