Customizable Stepper Motor Mount for OpenBeam
thingiverse
This is a customizable stepper motor mount for OpenBeam. The customization options include choosing between parallel or perpendicular mounting, selecting from NEMA 8 to NEMA 42 motor sizes since I have an abundance of surplus motors, and specifying other beam/extrusion dimensions. STL files are included for some common motor sizes (NEMA 17, 14, 11, 23). This component draws inspiration from the Open-source optics project, which aims to significantly reduce the cost of scientific optical hardware by Michigan Tech's Open Sustainability Technology Research Group. Customization Options OpenSCAD code is provided for modifications. Simply print on your preferred 3D printer and clean up. For added stability/strength, this part may require 30% or more infill. The parallel version can be printed without supports, but the perpendicular version will need some support structures. Required Materials Appropriate bolts are needed to attach the motor, as well as four M3 bolts and nuts to secure it to the OpenBeam.
