This is a completely customizable spool bushing where you can adjust the parameters to your liking. I find that this makes the spool rolls glide smoothly on my spool stand pipe. I've also included an option for bearing slot, allowing you to easily create one by simply punching in the required figures. Having rcount set at 10 has proven to cause issues with openscad where the 9th and 10th rings didn't display correctly, so it's best avoided unless you want a 9-ring bushing. I derived this idea from an existing model found on http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:783215 but made improvements by adding customizability, eliminating the need for remodelling when switching between different spool and stand mount sizes. Update: June 9th, 2015 * I've added the option to remove the central hole (center) to allow this bushing to be repurposed as a connector or another creative use. This versatile design allows you to convert it into vertical or paired configurations using threaded rods inserted through the rings and slots. My primary intention was to use this spool bushing for my geeetech filament spool stand to enhance smooth operation, however, you can get even more out of it by exploring alternative uses. Update: June 10th, 2015 * I modified the ring position formula so that it will consistently fall between the inner and outer walls of the bushing regardless of how the inner and outer diameters are adjusted. Don't forget to properly set your parameters after these changes. Instructions This is a metric system based design. Please note the following: 1. First, measure up your spool hole and mount diameter. Punch in your findings as the inner and outer values. 2. Depending on your printer, you may want to leave about 0.5-1mm gap between measurements if yours exhibits any wobble. To be safe, add at least an extra mm to your minimum/maximum settings. 3. The provided rings are engineered to use less plastic while increasing rigidity, as they form a cylindrical shape. You can adjust the number of rings and ring size using the rcount and rsize options, respectively. The bearing slot can also be utilized for any type of rod insertion, opening up endless possibilities! Feel free to experiment with your settings and explore more creative uses for this design! I personally used these parameters for a successful print and found that it's equally suitable for printing in PLA as well.
