Customizable Snap Together Cable Label

Customizable Snap Together Cable Label

thingiverse

This is a highly customizable cable label that securely fits around a cable. The current dimensions are 30mm in length with a 7mm inner diameter hole, providing a snug fit. I assembled this around a Midland GMRS Radio handset cable by snapping it together. The tight tolerances demand high-quality printing to ensure a smooth assembly process. To snap the two sides together, start with one side and then gently push the tabs in using a small screwdriver before carefully snapping them into place. There are two distinct upper portions available, allowing you to choose between raised or sunk letters. I printed this design with tree supports in place, positioning the flat side of the bottom against the bed and the tabs downwards while keeping the letters facing upwards to maintain their visibility. When removing the supports, exercise caution to avoid damaging them. It is essential to clean up the holes and tabs using an XACTO before assembling the label. If the tolerances are too tight, you can scale one side up or down as needed to achieve a comfortable fit. While it may be possible to disassemble the label, I am unsure if the snaps would withstand the process without sustaining damage. You can download the top pieces from Tinkercad or Fusion 360 and customize them with your own text.
