Customizable Small Linear Carriage Generator
thingiverse
This set of files generates the printable parts required for building a compact linear carriage. Designed as a Z-axis carriage, it pairs perfectly with http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1411601, which serves as the Y-axis counterpart. The X-axis design will be shared shortly and can be heavily customized to suit individual needs. A Libre Office Calc file is used to calculate critical values necessary for creating printable parts, with some resulting values bearing variable names on their right sides. These values must be copied into the Parameters.scad file, the only OpenScad file containing modifiable parameters. Once the parameters have been customized in Parameters.scad, open the files "Front Plate.scad", "Motor Mount.scad", and "BearingHousingMount.scad" with OpenScad, render them, and export the three models. Before printing or cutting material, carefully verify the overall part sizes to ensure accuracy. Invalid parts may be generated if incoherent values are inputted. The provided files are optimized for the following components: - 20 x 20 mm V-SLOT Linear rail (337 mm in length) - 1 Nema17 stepper motor (17HS8401) - 4 Delrin V Wheel Kit with spacers - 1 8 mm lead screw (four starts), easily sourced from Chinese suppliers - 1 flexible 8mm - 5mm coupler - 2 608ZZ bearings accompanied by an 8 mm washer - 2 T-Slot inserts paired with the required M5 screws (10 mm) - 4 M3 screws to mount the motor (8 mm) - 5 M5 screws and nuts for mounting the V Wheels (25 mm) - 2 M3 screws and nuts to secure the nut bracket (10 mm) To assemble, first mount the bearing housing without the bearing, allowing for smooth integration later.
