Customizable seeding box/planter with coaster
thingiverse
Seeding box (easily split in half for hassle-free plant removal) with coaster to pre-grow your plants before placing them in their designated spot. This design is fully customizable (see the OpenSCAD file, as well as the included default STL files). Feel free to experiment and create an improved version - simply share a link so I can feature it here. There are two modules within OpenSCAD for the planter: use "sliced_planter" to produce one half of the design (the parts should be identical, allowing you to print or rotate two halves) or opt for the "planter" module, which doesn't split the design in half but can be adjusted in your slicer. The "saucer" module is also available; ensure that when modifying planter dimensions, you update the coaster values accordingly to ensure a proper fit. Adjust the xlen/ylen parameters to customize the number of planters on each axis. I initially set the height at 30 mm but found it might be too low - 50 mm appears to be a more suitable option. Any water that leaks out will simply collect in the coaster. Watch this video for a clear demonstration of how the system works: https://youtu.be/wGLmOcp8r4I The code may not be perfect, but it gets the job done; you can also find the OpenSCAD file on GitLab at https://gitlab.com/JanKlicka/3d-print-space/-/blob/master/seeding_box.scad. I'm considering creating a rectangular version to maximize space efficiency, yet I appreciate the unique charm of the circular design.
