Customizable Printer Enclosure

Customizable Printer Enclosure

I created this enclosure design in Tinkercad a few months ago to make my own printer case, but I've finally found the time to share it with you. I'd love your suggestions for improvements, as it has worked amazingly well for me over the past couple of months. This design consists of several parts, and if you're able to cut some cardboard strips, then making this will be a breeze. Although I'm not using them right now, I've also included files for some edge pieces that should fit snugly onto the cardboard, giving the edges a finished look. You can easily adjust the height to fit along the edges by simply taking the length of the strip between the corners and splitting it up to find out the height you should use for the edge pieces. The width can also be adjusted to fit as needed. The enclosure is made of 4 plain corners in the back, and 4 special hinge corners in the front that allow you to create doors to the enclosure. I do plan on making improvements in the future, but all you need to print are 4 of the hinge pieces, which slide easily onto the corners, creating a basic hinge for the doors. My favorite thing about this design is that it can be easily made to fit literally any printer as long as you have cardboard that is long enough. To make it, you just need to cut 12 cardboard strips, each about 2 inches wide and the desired length for the print enclosure. Then, crease and fold in half (lengthwise), and they should fit into the corner pieces. I suggest finding some sort of cheap clear sheet (I think I used extra plexiglass I had) and cutting it to the size of the side it will be on. You can just attach it to the cardboard strips, although I might make a version with slots in the corner pieces for it to fit into. When designing this, I made sure that it was support-free for easy printing. This should be able to print and fit on any printer, as mine has one of the smallest build volumes there is (MP Select Mini V2). As you can see in the pictures, I don't have any doors right now, but I did make some using cheap tape from the 99-cent store. They began to fall apart, but I kept the plexiglass I had used to make new ones later. I hope you enjoy this design, and please comment on your thoughts. P.S. I stacked 2 of the plain corners and turned one, which inspired the design for my logo! You should also check out this design: https://www.myminifactory.com/object/3d-print-96842
