Customizable Printer Enclosure
thingiverse
I created this design in Tinkercad a few months ago to build my own enclosure for my printer, and now I'm finally sharing it with everyone. I'd love to hear your suggestions for improvements, but so far, it's worked amazingly well for me over the past couple of months. This design has multiple parts, and if you can cut some cardboard strips, you'll be able to make this easily. Although I'm not using them, I also included the files for some edge pieces that should fit snugly onto the cardboard, giving the edges a finished look. You can adjust the height of these pieces by taking the length of the strip between the corners and splitting it in half. The width can also be adjusted to fit as needed. The enclosure is made up of 4 plain corners in the back and 4 special hinge corners in the front, which allow you to create doors for the enclosure. I do plan on making improvements in the future, but right now, all you need to print are 4 hinge pieces that slide easily onto the corners, creating a basic hinge for the doors. My favorite thing about this design is that it can be made to fit any printer as long as you have cardboard that's long enough. To make this enclosure, simply cut 12 cardboard strips, each about 2 inches wide and the desired length for your print enclosure. Then crease and fold them in half (lengthwise), and they should fit into the corner pieces. I suggest using a cheap clear sheet, such as plexiglass, to attach to the cardboard strips. You can also attach it directly to the cardboard if you prefer. When designing this enclosure, I made sure that it was support-free for easy printing. This means that it should be able to print and fit on any printer, even ones with small build volumes like my Mp Select Mini V2. As you can see from the pictures, I don't have any doors yet. That's because I made some doors using cheap tape from a 99-cent store, but they began to fall apart. However, I kept the plexiglass I used to make new ones later. I hope you enjoy this design and please share your thoughts in the comments!
