Customizable Printbed Calibrator
thingiverse
This calibration object was designed to fill the need to manually calibrate a XYZ Da Vinci 1.0 printer using 0.92 repetier firmware. The sample .stl file is made for the Da Vinci 1.0 printer with a standard 5mm height. You can customize this object in Makerbot Customizer or OpenSCAD. This project marks my first use of OpenSCAD, so any suggestions you have are greatly appreciated. Please let me know if you've made or plan to make it! **Instructions** Follow these step-by-step instructions: 1. Use Makerbot Customizer to create your own customized calibrator. 2. Make the object dimensions a bit smaller than your printer's maximum size (e.g., 150mmx150mm calibrator for a 200mmx200mm printbed). 3. Download and open the customized .stl file to start printing. 4. As you're printing, adjust the bed height so that all the circles and lines have an even width - this photo will be updated later. 5. The plastic should stick securely to the bed without glue (this is especially true for the Da Vinci 1.0 printer with its pre-installed gluestick; I'm not a fan of sticky plastic). 6. Note: The default settings are set up for the Da Vinci 1.0 printer with a standard 5mm height - there's also an optional 1mm height version included, which takes less time to finish printing. 7. Customizable options include: a) General: Print Bed dimensions, Object height, Number of rings along the x and y b) Ring: Outer Radius, Inner Radius, Resolution c) Connector: Connector width (thickness) Play with these settings, and let me know if you have any questions or comments via Twitter or GitHub!
